Add love
Summer 2020 I was a product design intern on the Facebook Dating Team. Our team's goal was simple but difficult: Help people find love 😍

During my internship, I worked on a project that aimed to make it easier for people to start conversations and "break the ice." I focused on defining the people and business problems, ideated different design solutions, conducted usability testing, figured out the engineering constraints and feasibility, and aligned with the cross-functional team on design direction.
Despite the internship being remote because of covid, I learned a lot this summer from my team and my project. It was very exciting because I was working on a new, fast-paced product within a large company.
1. Get multiple cross-functional perspectives when scoping out the project. The problem space for my project was pretty complex, so I spoke to team members from content strategy, product design, and engineering to really understand how my project could have an impact and what problems may arise.
2. Design for all. When designing at Facebook, I had to continuously think about designing for all audiences
(19 million people worldwide). This includes considering languages, cultures, device types, gender identities, sexual preferences, and more.
3. Being a good matchmaker is a challenge! Perfect compatibility is rare but our team put a lot of emphasis on creating experiences that make finding compatible people easier and more organic.
